Soundcheck Playlist 11-4-20
Written by Sean Cantwell on November 9, 2020
It’s been a little bit, but we’re back live with Soundcheck, so I figured now was as good a time as any to bring back the playlist posts as well! A few liner notes and such:
-So, with this show airing on Election Day, the opener just seemed appropriate, followed by one of the most politically active artists out there, in this case simply paying tribute to another guitar great, the late Eddie Van Halen.
-Normally I leave the local tunes to Adam, but every so often, I like to spin a set of tunes you won’t normally hear on Sessions. This was one of those nights. (Eko 9, in case you weren’t aware, is our own Wes Imel.)
-And in tribute to the terrestrial demise of one of the last independent alternative stations in the country, Columbus’ legendary CD101/CD102.5, an operation that has been no small source of inspiration behind what we’ve tried to build here at Solid State, this show ends with a triple dose of great indie bands from the Columbus area that I’d never have discovered were it not for them. Without further ado, here’s what I played on Wednesday’s show:
Filter- ‘Murica
Tom Morello- Secretariat
Culture Wars- Leave Me Alone
Karen O and Willie Nelson- Under Pressure
Missio- Roman Empire
Bakar- 1st Time
Eliza & The Delusionals- Sentimental
Foreign Air- The Apartment
morgxn- Pump The Break
The Stepmothers- …And The Bombs Keep Ticking
Eko 9- Changes
Shawn Butzin- Small Town Streets
Watershed- Bleeding on the Blank Page
Noble Vices- Peccadillo
The Esteems- Alone
As always, if you like what we’re playing and wanna hear more of it, or have something I need to hear, drop me a line any time at sean@solidstateradio.net! -Sean Cantwell
